The ROCAT website was a very simple and basic home-made affair, but the narrative (which would now be called a blog) made it remarkably popular around the world – during October 2006, for example, the site got 93,000 hits.
Almost all of the twelve orders we got, from as far afield as Buenos Aires and Vancouver, came from devoted followers of the ROCAT story through the website. But our money well had run dry – the product was too novel and the risk for British investors approached was perceived to be too high. We completed three boats but, in April 2007, I had to accept that we could not proceed without a significant injection of cash, and I put the ROCAT project on hold.
